This was my first wedding to photograph at Farnham Castle in Surrey, I had been a couple of weeks before to check things out. It’s visually stunning I mean come on who wouldn’t want to get married in a a castle. Jen was getting ready in the gatehouse a lovely little cottage apart from the main building, I took some shots of the little details to begin with shoes ,dress etc then as Jen wasn’t quite ready for me I zipped off to do some groom preparation which was basically some nice shots of the boys in the castle keep grounds.
By the time I got back to the gatehouse Jen was getting ready so I covered the usual bits here. once the bride was ready it was a short walk across the grounds to the main building. The ceremony room here is beautiful lots of diffused natural light coming in so it was a nice room to shoot in plus there was plenty of room to move around to get some different angles. The ceremony was lovely and once it was finished the guests were led outside for refreshments (champagne/pimms). This was a good opportunity to take Jen and Ben away for some couple shots, we picked a few locations around the beautiful gardens and came back to the guests. After a few group shots and some more “refreshments” it was time for some grub. Again the main room was beautifully decorated and very grand, the guests enjoyed a fine meal, with refreshments naturally before the speeches. These all ran smoothly all confident speakers and all made the guests and bridegroom laugh so good job all round.
After the meal there was some downtime while the room was being turned around I got some nice interesting group shots here as some of the guests were in a particularly good mood probably down to the refreshments. Once back inside we had the cutting of the cake, followed by the first dance I can’t remember the song they but the band were great. Before I left Jen and Ben wanted a few shots out on the steps and also a shot of Ben flying off with an umbrella! The weather was great all day, the guests were great and the couple…fantastic.
